Bottom Line

Through non-traditional theatrical forms, Bottom Line, addresses corruption in corporate America.  This darkly comic satire is chock full of sword-wielding pirates, rapping professors, and anthropomorphic animals, all of which inhabit a complex, fast-paced, media-filled world.

Eight ensember actors.  Running time: 80 minutes

This play has had two staged readings, one as part of Arizona State University's Festival of New Work in 2006 and the other as part of ASU's MFA Playwrights Staged Reading Series in 2007.

Taking Leave

Taking Leave unravels the story of four brothers who must all make choices about their lives and their loyalty to their family, country, and themselves.  The play follows the brothers to war and back as they are challenged to keep their sanity and their family intact while asking timeless questions about the nature and relevance of war and its impact on society and the individual.

Five male actors, two female actors.  Running time: 90 minutes

This play first had a staged reading at ASU's MFA Playwrights Staged Reading Series in spring 2005.  It received a full production on ASU's mainstage in fall 2005.

The Following is a Paid Presentation

In this comedic ten-minute play, two United States Military personnel present their country’s newest plan to gain allies in its quest for world domination.  However, they are abruptly interrupted as an angry protester disagrees with their tactics.

Three actors, any gender.  Running time: 10 minutes

This play was first presented at Gods, Guns, and Gynecologists, a festival of ten-minute plays at Arizona State University.  It has since been performed at Theatre in My Basement's Teatro Caliente theatre festival in Phoenix, AZ.

Journalistic Integrity

This ethnographic-style one-act play deals with interviews from soldiers returning home from the war in Iraq.  Despite their efforts in the army, these soldiers' voices would not be heard.  A playwright struggles to get their stories published as they struggle to tell them.

Three female actors, two male actors.  Running time: 30 minutes

Journalistic Integrity was first produced during Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo: a non-buffalo related evening of one-act plays, at ASU by Playwrights on Campus

Penury Penitentiary

A carnival barker unveils his latest attraction: a homeless man caged for public viewing.  Despite the show's prosperity, the carnival barker runs afoul of the law in this short satire.

Three male actors.  Running time: 10 minutes

Penury Penitentiary received its first production at 5 of a Kind, a festival of ten-minute plays at ASU.  It has since been performed at Gardener-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC.

Unlucky Little Lamb

A stay at home wife, Joan, has difficulty dealing with her secluded life as a homemaker.  Despite their occasionally confrontational relationship, Joan's friend Millie convinces Joan to take action against her neglectful husband.  Simple defiance quickly turns violent in this one-act play dealing with fragility of mind and the illusions of everyday life.

Three male actors, two female actors.  Running time: 40 minutes.

This play was performed at the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport, MA as part of their New Works Festival.

The Salesman's Son

Inspired by Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman, this play takes Happy Loman 10 years after his father's death.  Stuck in a dead-end job with a budding alcohol addiction, Happy begins to wonder if his father chose the right path.  As his life becomes more desperate, Happy needs to find out who his friends are and if they will support him in his crisis.

Three male actors, two female actors.  Running time: 60 minutes.

This play was performed at Bentley College in Waltham, MA as part of an evening of one-act plays.
